About Us

Founded in May 2000, 3rd Rock LLC supports the construction industry of Western and Central New York by offering laboratory and field testing of soil, rock, concrete and geosynthetic materials. The laboratory’s clientele includes contractors, architects, developers, scientists and civil/ environmental engineers. 3rd Rock’s success has been established based on technical expertise, superior client service and responsiveness.

Technical Expertise

3rd Rock has the expertise to collect representative samples, accurately perform required tests according to appropriate test methods, and properly interpret the results. 3rd Rock’s Laboratory Manager, Jeanne Asquith, has over 20 years of experience in the material testing business. Additionally, 3rd Rock has retained accreditation through the AASHTO Accreditation Program. Through program participation, 3rd Rock demonstrates proficiency for the testing of construction materials through on- site assessments. We meet the quality system requirements set forth in AASHTO R18, and maintain enrollment in an ongoing Proficiency Testing Program.

3rd Rock benefits from active participation in the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM). Laboratory staff are current and/or former officers of several ASTM Committees and Subcommittees responsible for establishing and revising test methods and standards.
